"Mrs Skeffington" is character that actress Bette Davis played in a movie, btw.

The reason I remember Captain Noah being on until the 90s was because I was one of my mother's care givers starting in 1990. Captain N was broadcast on Saturday mornings then.

I didn't watch Gene London because I was 13 when my family moved to Cherry Hill.

However, I did see Gene Crane when he hosted Candy Carnival, because it was carried on the network. I was lucky enough to work with him when I worked at WCAU. He was a wonderful person in real life.

That is so cool! I was up in Wilkes-Barre, but we got Philadelphia programming when I was young.

I'm a Michigan native. Totally different kiddie shows except on Saturday morning. Then we got network kiddie shows. That's when Candy Carnival aired.

Ha, ha, ha. I'm probably the only one here who knows who Gene Crane was.

Since Gene did weather for the noon news on WCAU for many years as well as announcement work, I suspect that older Gen X posters know who he was. However, I suspect that you and I are the only ones who would have seen Candy Carnival.

Although I never watched Sally Star, my parents' house was in the same housing development in Cherry Hill where she lived.

I used to hear about kids going to her house and yelling for her to come out. I probably shouldn't post her reaction if she was home. It didn't help matters.

None of these names resonate with me, as the TV stations in Kansas City had their own local kiddie hosts - Torey Southwick on KMBC-TV and Whizzo the Clown on KCMO-TV were the two biggest, but I think WDAF-TV had one too - but:

Actual plots and storylines on Gene London's show! I would have loved to have a show with those as a child. There were characters, but no plots like those, on any of the local kiddie shows I grew up watching.

Actually, I think WDAF ran the syndicated "Romper Room." ("Do Be a DooBee.") Did that air here?

Edited to add: Since I brought up this diversion, there's a song by novelty country-song king Roger Miller that actually covers this territory:
