Will be moving in the very near future into Newtown or surrounding area. What is a realistic commute time from there into Philly? Google maps thinks it should be 49min. Thanks.

49min is NOT realistic. Traffic is bumper-to-bumper on 95south in the morning from about Academy Rd all they way into center city. I don't know where you will be working in Philly but I would consider public transportation or prepare yourself for a very long commute.

Are you talking about center city Philly or another part of the city? That makes a difference.

Ok, that's right in center city. Instead of driving, take SEPTA. It will take you a block from your office. Go to SEPTA , services and schedule, regional rail and check the R3 schedule.

You mean Newtown, not Newtown Square right?

Either way though I would still say an hour

The regional Rail lines are the best, they will take you right into Market East Station which is basically 11th and Market..

I drove it a few times when I lived in Newtown and it was always about 45 minutes taking 95. I also drove to North East Philly for school DAILY from Newtown and it was about 30 min.
good luck

It would depend on what time you leave your home. Leave anytime after 7 and traffic will factor into your time. Newtown is at least close to I-95 so that cuts the commute time to get to the highway at least.

SEPTA is a fortune. I think a one way trip on the train is over $5. I don't know if companies subsidize it. My sister in Seattle pays $10 for a monthly pass on her public transportation.
