The people who are going to really take the brunt of this are the "must sellers." The people relocating across the country or to another country all-together. Some of them will be forced to take extremely low offers for their places during this time.

Right, but it looks like this could be playing out for months to come. I’d think in a couple of months it’ll have some more long term impact if inventory accumulates.

Yes, very possible. However, keep in mind that construction is ramping down extremely quickly. There might not be much inventory available when this is finally stabilized. Sadly, some inventory might open up from older individuals no longer being with us.

John Travolta starred in a movie called Blowout in 1981 that was based in Philly

It used to be a X-rated theater, Arcade and Mcdonald's across from Macy's. Now it's a big parking lot on the corner of 13th and Market

When I moved here in 1983, the Harrison Ford movie "Witness," in which Ford plays a good-guy detective out to keep an Amish boy from being offed by corrupt cops he saw engaged in some shady business (exactly what escapes me) in a 30th Street Station restroom, had just hit the theaters.

My ex and I saw it in one of the no-longer extant theaters on West Market Street. Two moments in the film, both of which provoked spasms of laughter in the audience, stuck in my head.

In the first, Ford is caroming around the mostly empty streets of Center City late at night as the cops are giving hot pursuit; the boy and his mother are cowering in the back seat.

As they round a corner at high speed, the mother protests, "I thought you said we'd be safe in Philadelphia."

"Well, I was wrong," Ford replies.

The second moment came in the climactic scene, where the cops have surrounded the Lancaster County farmhouse where the boy lives and are marching on it, with Ford and the family huddled inside. (The cops don't get their prey; I don't recall one of those action-film climaxes where "things blow up real good" here.)

As the cops are closing in, the commander says through a bullhorn:

"You have nothing to fear. We are the police. The Philadelphia Police."

That line brought down the house.

There seems to be a lot of hit jobs on the police here ... Some of which is deserved.
But I think the Democratic machine running the city deserves more of a beating.
Jim Kenney, Larry Krasner and a slew of council people anyone? Did you not see who they hired as police commissioner?
Disgraceful.

It does not look like things will resolve in less than a few months. There is no telling where supply, demand and interest rates will be when things return to normal, especially if this is with us longer than 3-4 months.

Wall St forecasts are calling for a GDP cut as much as 24% in Q2. A drop that sharp would cause major disruption throughout the economy. Let's hope that does not happen.

I remember that movie and there is a scene showing part of the uncompleted old Gallery. Also it was Wanamaker's then not Macy's.

I remember the Arcade too. There was project slated for that parking lot but that fell through before the current crisis.
