Unless things take a drastic turn for the worse (which they may), there is no reason things should not begin to re-open on April 30th. Things will get dark for everyone everywhere it the shutdown lasts beyond then.
I think comparing one approach over another is highly contextual. Ask those of us with kids and we'll say the risk trumps the economic concerns. Ask the spring breakers and some will question why any of this is needed. Ask the healthcare workers and they'll tell you this is like nothing they've ever seen before. Not enough ventilators and other equipment, people dying on stretchers in hallways, etc.

Personally, I've never been on a ventilator, but the idea of being on one for 3 weeks and enduring permanent damage to my lungs, or worse, seeing my child on one. I'll go with the lock-down.

I am watching CNN, I did not know that PA is not locked down. Only 26 counties, whats the deal with that? I know the most populated counties have "stay at home" orders, but is there push-back from others? Seems like its mostly rural counties.

Yes, very sad. Retail was mess long before any of this and, unfortunately, we may see the end of Macy's.

On a positive note, I read an article today stating that Philadelphia's business market should fare well through the virus and possibly emerge even stronger as the demand for life sciences increases. Philadelphia could become the main hub (even more than it already is) for life sciences and medical research.

Great, nice news to receive.
Any possibly good news is great right now.

Tbh, given the constant traffic between here and NYC, I'm really surprised we are not, so far, worse off. But, yes, next couple of weeks will likely be terrible.

Apparently Wolf is about ready to "lock down" the remaining counties in PA.

It's gone from 250 to 1315 in the last week and it appears the numbers are increasing exponentially by the day.
It's the increase in testing. These people have been infected for a while but are just now showing symptoms enough to warrant a test.

My gut says we won't have a clear idea about it until June. Maybe end of May.

It's coming back in the Fall according to Fauci no matter what.
