Hmmm, nope I had not heard that before.

Other than how crime might spike here locally, I don't know whether to worry about the big picture nationwide, the economy, the eventual election etc, ----- or just worry about myself and my family, and friends -- and not even care what others do....as long as I know what I'M going to do.

Cooler heads really do need to prevail ......
As many of you probably know by now that protest was not in any way spontaneous ; it was organized by Betsy DeVos' brother.

Those folks think they're immune. And, now, since there are a lot of black people who have died, their thinking probably goes something like, "Since I'm white it won't affect me".

Tbh, I was worried about the economy nearly a year ago. Today...at least I'm not having nightmares because we are living in a real nightmare that isn't a dream. But for me it's more like what older people tend to do anyhow: take a day at a time.

I agree that cooler heads need to prevail and the fact is that the number of people attending these things is small and polling shows that most people understand that social distancing is important and they don’t want to reopen too quickly. That said, I really wish a significantly larger portion of my immediate area would get on board with wearing a mask. Had to go shopping today and was disappointed by how few people were wearing a mask.
In stores I go to now, everyone is wearing masks.

So the LAST outbreak of swine flu was in 1918????? ROFL I highly doubt that. I was born in 1948. There have been the 1957, 1968, and of course, 2009 Pandemics. No OTHER Flu Outbreaks since then? Pretty sure swine flu has been around since 1918 that my generation has lived through.

I think the recent move by the legislature to force him to open most businesses sooner than he (or I) think justified is also a product of that fever-swamp thinking, but I do think there are some "non-life-sustaining" businesses on that list that should be allowed to operate.

Unfortunately, letting some of them (e.g., barber shops and beauty salons) open poses special risks as the proprietors and workers at these places must perforce come in close contact with customers who might be carrying the virus. So, erring on the side of safety, I guess we will still have to go around (if we go around) looking like Grizzly Adams, or Sasquatch, or Frederick Douglass, or Angela Davis until the infection peak is behind us. (A friend of mine from high school suggested I regrow the Angela Davis-sized Afro I sported back then. I'm not sure how good that would look in gray.)

But I think Gov. Wolf should rethink his decision to keep the state liquor stores closed. As Boss Tom Pendergast put it during Prohibition, "the people are thirsty," the online store can't handle the demand, and neighboring states are moving to limit or prevent Pennsylvanians from buying hooch in their states. Booze may not be "life-sustaining," but it is a coping tool for some.
Just get a pair of electric clippers. Do an Anderson Cooper and cut your own hair...he did it himself and ended up with a tiny "bald spot". lol. And is there any evidence that beards harbor the virus? Seeing a beard now freaks me out.

You drinkers. Can 't stand being without it. Seriously, it sounds like a craving... And, yes, I know about addiction. Not me but someone I was involved with.

I'll just put this out here and then I'd appreciate it if we move back to COVID 19 in Philly.

I do remember my parents telling me that swimming in lakes was feared; salt water was considered safer.
I remember very well lining up for 3 Sundays in a row to get the vaccine in the sugar cube. Have to wonder if they develop a vaccine for Covid-19 how many will refuse to take it.

I was born in 1948 and remember in elementary school them giving us that sugar cube. However, I also remember in HS the nurse coming around asking us to raise our hands if we NEVER had measles. No hands and She walked out.

That polio sugar cube was my last vaccine; nothing since then. Would I take any COVID vaccine? Nope.

My household is doing okay, but it's stressful. As an introvert, I'm not starved for social interaction. I'm working remotely, I have the Internet, Netflix, and my books, movies, and music. I've also been working through a couple of online courses.

The worst is going out for essentials, because there are always some people who aren't following the physical distances protocols like they should. I've had a few people come down the other side of the aisle and not just pass too close, but stop close to me to look at something on the shelves. I'm on top of physical distancing, and it upsets me when somebody potentially endangers my health by getting too close.

As much as my family would like to support the local restaurants that we've enjoyed so much over the years, we've decided to stick with our own groceries for now. We'll consider ordering delivery when we feel like the time is right.
