Yes they are fireworks. People have been posting videos of them from their decks and balconies. It’s annoying a lot of people.

Yep. They are fireworks. It's happening in NYC too. It always happens when we get close to the 4th though.

This is early and people are bored. But pre-July 4th fireworks have happened before.

Yeah but it’s been nothing like other years. Every night from 8pm to Midnight. I don’t know if PA should have made fireworks legal.

It’s happening in almost every city. So many people on twitter have been asking about this from around the country. I don’t know what’s going on, very strange. But it’s definitely not like any other year in the city.

Maybe its because other nightly entertainment has been cancelled such as sporting events, concerts, bars, clubs, movies, etc so people are just extra bored and the weather is nicer so they are outside. I agree it is annoying but it seems like there is a logical explanation why there are more.

Every year there are fireworks around the city neighborhoods in the 2-3 weeks leading up to July 4. It’s June 21, so we’re heading into the home stretch. I’ve observed that they’ve started a bit early this year, which as others have noted, may be due to the boredom many are feeling from the shutdown.

I expect to see and hear more neighborhood fireworks this year since most of the community displays will be cancelled. Rather than annoyance, I always enjoyed how local neighborhoods celebrate the 4th. This was not the case in Houston, and I’ve found it one of the city’s better distinctions that folks here really get into the spirit of the holiday. I also won’t discount how much fun it can be for kids to hear things go BANG!

With so little to enjoy these days, it seems like mostly harmless fun.
