Today's "peaceful protest" soon to be "riot" is consuming 676 (literally on the highway). Thousands and thousands of almost exclusively young people are headed straight for CC. Our city is gonna burn tonight for real. Real shame. I hope they stay out of Old City so some of our country's oldest and most historic structures don't burn to the ground. Be safe tonight everyone!

Yes, it has taken an ugly turn in the last 20mins. Should have shut the highway down before, it was a planned protest.

These riots will become the norm until the country addresses the issues being raised. If you ask me nothing has changed and another unarmed black will be murdered by armed whites.

If you are tired of the rioting, make your voice heard so that we don't have another riot soon. Complaining about rioters is not the solution.

Hopefully our city response tonight is much more competent than that of the last two days.

Who knows how well the National Guard presence will change the equation?

Did you really see a ton of competence in DC last night?

But anyway, you will just go on a "leadership" rant again, hiding anonymously here, not actually going for tackling anything as remotely complicated as trying to manage a city with 1.6 million people.

Country needs healing. The country needs to face decades worth of underhanded and diabolic treatment of the descendants of people of African ethnicities who were brought here as slaves.

It took the civil war to end slavery and it's not going to be a walk in the park singing kumbaya to end deep seated racial injusticies. You can be sure they'll be another countrywide riots down the day.

It's much cheaper to equip every policeman with a body cam compared to the cost the country goes through everytime the police commit a crime and get away with it.

Well it's 10 pm and the city is still standing. So the problem seems to be these groups that splinter off the main peaceful protest and after nothing to do

Is something happening in Fishtown? The news coverage of what's happening is pretty spotty.

Philly seems to be lacking the better stores to loot so they have limited options.

I wonder how the King of Prussia area would've handled all these protestors and looters near their stores.

Yep, agreed. If you want to end civil unrest, end the conditions that have caused the unrest. Most of the protesters are peaceful; they are not rioters or looters. Are protestors angry, and for good reason? Yes. Yet the vast majority are not calling for looting or destruction, and know it takes away from their message.
