I will be driving up I95 just to get a cheese steak and take in some of that great Philly air!

THANK YOU PHILADELPHIA - Election 2020!

If Philadelphia and Philadelphians see themselves as liberal, progressive, or whatever label you want to use, then they are liberal, progressive, or whatever label you want to use. It will not matter to them what others call them. Good grief - everyone should know that by now.

It's the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

All of the post-Election Day protests here on any side have been peaceful. Too bad your feed didn't pick up the spontaneous dance parties.

Although I would put a different spin on it, I agree that Biden may be essentially a caretaker Presidency setting up Harris for success in four years.

As opposed to the current state of America...?

After the fascist dumpster fire is removed from the White House (likely physically), we can only go up from here.

@FINDINGZEN Thank you for agreeing with me about Biden-Harris. Actually, in watching the scene at the CONVENTION center, I did see the spontaneous dancing -- dancing to socialist, communist lyrics being spouted by sadly leftist, brainwashed young radicals who have no context for or knowledge of history. It seemed to me it was for many just a cool place to spend the day, and maybe hit on a hot chick.

We are in agreement that Biden will only stick around for four years. We are in disagreement on the reasons why.

Based on references you made in earlier posts, it would appear that you are a senior citizen. Being an elder Gen-X'er, I'm at the stage where I may not be current on all the popular songs but know enough to have a sense of the style of certain acts and genres. Forgive my skepticism that "socialist/communist" lyrics were blasted at the rally site. You're also inadvertently casting aspersions on the smaller band of pro-Trump rally participants who showed up to ostensibly interrupt authorized observers of both political parties and stop counting the votes (while other supporters paradoxically encouraged continuing the count in states where Trump was then leading. But I digress...)

Based on the video I've seen and my coincidental run-in with a rally on Wednesday while coming out of the Reading Terminal Market - you'd be impressed with the place if you were to visit! - I'd say the participants were all passionate and focused.

The best thing about this website is the breadth of geography and interests that it covers. Have you had the opportunity to explore your current home town or state yet?

LOL. I'm not upper-middle-class by Boston area standards. I'll tell you that much. But really my economic well being is not the point. My concern for who runs our country doesn't end with my own financial well being, perhaps a completely alien notion to many, if not most, of those inclined to support Donald.

I can tell that any explanation I'd offer is really just a waste of keystrokes, so I'll spare us both the pointless effort.

But just know that your ad hominem stereotyping is a deflection. Donald's penchant for baseless authority, strong desire for autocracy, and willingness to debase democracy is obvious to most people at this point.

If it talks like a fascist; it's a fascist.

The city hasn't been run by Republicans since 1951.

Rizzo hadn't switched parties when he was mayor.

And I don't know where you get the "collapsing in chaos" stuff: the city's trajectory has largely been upward since (Democrat) Ed Rendell was mayor. Sheesh, Rendell was even more popular in Philadelphia's suburbs thabn he was in the city itself; he went on to get elected Governor of Pennsylvania, the first Philadelphian to do so since 1911.

Population started growing again on the whole in the 1990s. The growth curve has flattened over the last few years, but it's still been growing,

If you haven't been here since 1969, how can you say it's sad to see it today? You haven't seen it. I've seen it over the last 38 years, and it's way different from how you describe it.

So let me get this straight.

You moved out of this city 51 years ago. From the tone of your posts, you haven't been back or lived here since. And yet, you think yourself qualified to judge Philadelphia 2020? Why? Because you watched a couple of videos online?

Come on.

Seriously, unless someone lives here NOW, they don't get to have an opinion on how things are NOW. If you haven't lived here in half a century, why should we care what you think about the city today?
