It looks like the historic building is owned by the National Park Service. Hopefully after COVID-19 passes, someone can take the reigns and re-open. It looks like Staib's contract is finished, so hopefully. I'm really saddened to read this. Thomas Jefferson actor, Steve Edenbo, broke the news on LinkedIn.

This one really is a bummer. The owner was a cool guy. He would do presentations at Rittenhouse town in germantown section of the wissahickon all the time.

Yes. I always loved watching him on TV. Like I said, it looks like his contract is up and hopefully someone can resurrect City Tavern once we come from the ashes of COVID-19. I'm going to mourn a little bit longer.

I hope not! I love Old City. It might be time to get a new tattoo soon, to keep Old City Tattoo afloat.

I was dining in City Tavern in August. I took a selfie with one of the waiters and I put it into my Happiness Box. Ah, moments to treasure.

Old City will rise again after the bleeding stops. It's far too important to go under. I just hope it isn't Disney and McDonalds that resurrect it.

Right? I'm sure it will recover but it's hard to watch. 3 of our go-to places have closed for good. And a bunch of friends out of work.

This is sad news. I heard a lot about City Tavern and wanted to eat there, but didn't get around to it.

It wasn't really that noticeable based on where it was located
