it's perhaps ironic that the city where our constitution was crafted by our forefathers is the same city that 200+ years later, kept us from losing our grip on democracy. Thank you from the rest of us, thank you so much.

You're very welcome.

Of course, it ain't over yet; there's a GOP lawsuit before the U.S. Supreme Court over the state Supreme Court's ruling that ballots postmarked by Election Day could be counted if they arrived as late as the following Friday. (Something tells me that the number of ballots affected would not be enough to erase Biden's lead over Trump, however, if the Supremes disallow them — but I also suspect that the Supremes will decline to get involved in this particular state Supreme Court ruling, as the ruling applied to ballots statewide, and this is the initial, unofficial count, not the final one.)

The "count every vote" protests outside the Convention Center (where they faced a much smaller crowd of Trump supporters urging that the count stop) turned into a huge street party after all the outlets called Pennsylvania for Biden.

Then there's Pedro Cortes, the PA Secretary of State who resigned abruptly 5 years ago without explanation.

Philly has gotten the most publicity but it was EVERY Democrat in EVERY county in Pennsylvania, including the most Republican of counties, that put Biden over the top in Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh, Erie, Scranton, Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, State College, etc., - ALL should get credit for putting Biden over the top in PA.

Very true! Kudos to all folks, in my view ESPECIALLY those in deep red areas in Pennsylvania, that came out for Biden. It truly took a village.

Indeed they do, especially the Democrats who mailed in their ballots in Trump Country, including those who added Monroe County to the list of blue counties this year and brought Erie County back into the fold.

But in reporting on the election horse race, it's whoever gets past the post first that gets the credit. Had the media called Georgia first, we'd be talking about how that state put Biden over the top, and it was a bunch of mail ballots from Philadelphia that put Biden's lead beyond the point where additional uncounted ballots could erase it. That tipping-point ballot might have come from Allegheny County had not the courts put the count there on hold for a day because of a bunch of ballots that contained errors and had to be reissued.

BTW, that's one of those "irregularities" Pat Toomey was referring to, and I'm sure that the followup canvas of the Philadelphia vote will find some of those too. Those don't rise to the level of fraud, however, or however much the Trumpistas try to wish them there.

Oh, I do tooooo!

A little known fact about the Liberty Bell is that the original was cast in London's White Chapel district where Jack the Ripper did his ripping. Of course that was over a hundred years later.

Maybe it cracked by some mysterious connection?? (Nah).

Very true. Trump is only competitive because he can rack up 70-80% in those dozens of dinky counties around the state. It's just as important for the few Democrats in those places to keep those landslide numbers from getting any worse. Philly/Pittsburgh provides the muscle while the small town Dems protect the rear.

Watching the celebrations in Center City on Saturday made me want to drive down to my old stomping grounds and join in.
