I just noticed that many people in Michigan dream of Orlando, Florida or possibly Arizona.

People in NYC always talk about either San Francisco or Miami as places they would consider.

People in Portland Oregon, if they were to move, perhaps Austin Texas or Denver, Colorado, perhaps.

HOW ABOUT PEOPLE IN PHILADELPHIA?

If I won the lottery I would like a summer place in Newport, R.I. and a winter place in Palm Beach, Fl (or southern California) but I would still keep my base in Philly.

Usually some sort of vacation destination, especially Florida (Miami, Palm Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, etc.). Anything else is more like "I'd be fine there" as opposed to a "dream" location.

well, I'm from NYC now moving to Philly...but as a northeasterner...I'd say Oregon/Washington for the geography and people ( less uptight than the east). I'm not a florida or arizona person, don't want to live in the desert, and florida was once an amazing state, but I think they've paved over too much of it...and the people.....but that's another forum...

I'm more than ready to move back to Ohio; family obligations keep me here.

Other places I wouldn't mind moving to? Asheville, N.C. or rural central North Carolina, Nashville or Knoxville, Tenn., Tidewater Virginia.

I like Ohio and do not understand why others do not. The Southern cities you listed are all top notch as well.

I have found that people from Philly have a crazy passion for the city- esp hardcore sports fans. Therefore, people from Philly want to stay where they are!

Pretty much, that's why all I could think of are the more vacation-y places (i.e. for retirement, etc). Most I know never really talk about another city to move to in particular, and many who moved away look to come back.

Thought-provoking question. I always thought living in a quieter, safer place would be perfect. However, after living in Lancaster County for five years, I realized that I do miss the big city. Anyway, to answer the question I'd move to Boston.
