Great news! And there are quite a few stores in the pipeline and recently opened on Walnut Street.

It does come down to getting crime under control. I don't expect Philadelphia to be like Copenhagen (in terms of safety), but leaders should push hard to get the city back to the ~2010s. I'm still hopeful.

It's also nice that residents in CC are upset with crime, but still optimistic, far different then the social media trolls who haven't visited the city in 20 years. They also come out with pitchforks if any positive Philly news is shared.

Eh, not much more of a risk than your typical suburbanite driving around town all weekend. Auto deaths and injuries are at an all-time high right now.

Inquirer Article on the same topic:

Center City’s shoppers and diners are back — almost to pre-pandemic levels
Foot traffic is getting a boost from the return of out-of-town shoppers, tourists and convention attendees, college students, and office workers.

Great news! The extended neighborhoods thing is interesting. People are shopping more in their own neighborhoods which is wonderful. Hopefully this will continue to spur demand and retail/restaurant growth beyond Center City. Fishtown and Northern Liberties are just absolutely booming right now, almost like a second city. Washington Avenue (ugh I know) is going to be a mini-boomtown over the next few years. Passyunk seems to be doing great.

City-dwellers don't drive? Do you realize there are many more bad things that happen in the city besides murder?
