I have been researching Philly suburbs, and have been especially interested in Media, PA. My husband and I want to relocate to Philly, but have never been to Philly before. I'd love to hear more about Media. It seems like it has a cute downtown and is an area with newer homes. What is the crime like? How about culture, parks, etc.?

It's a great town. Mostly older homes in the borough but newer outside. Train into city. Little or no crime to speak of (and any is more vandalism by kids than true crime). Lots of parks, but somewhat limited in culture outside of "Media Theatre for the Performing Arts" or Swarthmore College about 5-10 minutes away. 30-40 minute drive into the city with lots of culture.

I was born and raised in Media, and evenually, I wouldn't mind getting back there. The School district is wonderful, the crime is low, the people are friendly and the town is a great little place. What can you say about "everybody's hometown" Great place to grow up and raise kids.

what types of housing can you get for $200-$250k in Media? Would they be "fixer uppers" or could you get a decent place?

the ^ question above: for that price, mostly fixer-uppers. Unless you didn't mind a rehabbed twin or something like that.
