How is the culture / lifestyle in and near Downingtown?

Is it more rural.. laid back / informal? Or is it more fast paced, career-oriented / professional etc?

Do most residents commute to Philly?

Low crime rates? Or is crime an issue?

THANKS!

It's a typical upper middle class suburban town with good amenities, low crime, excellent schools, and direct train access to Philadelphia and New York City.

I don't know the breakdown of commuting patterns, but Downingtown is a bit far from Philadelphia, and Chester County is a strong employment center, so I'd imagine there is a good mix of people working in the area versus working in Philadelphia.

Flooding is a problem in Downingtown so definitely check the address if you plan to rent or buy.

This sums it up well. Very safe and well-off area overall, and one of the pockets of the suburbs that continued to grow consistently.
