I want to move out of NYC after living here for 16yrs...born and raised in south phillly(parents still there). I'm not sure any place could compare to NY but its just getting too expensive. Where would a good place to live besides Center City? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.. some people mentioned Media (but I also hear it too is expensive) I will be living on a nurses salary.

Your best bet is to go to phillyblog.com, click on the "ask a Philly friend" thread. Go to the thread entitled, Where Should I live FAQ thread. Cut and paste the questions into a new thread with your answers. That should get you responses. Good luck.

have you located a new position in the area or you going to pick an area then find a job. Lot of good hospitals all around. Delaware county has the highest property taxes but is very convient to philly, jobs and city life. Chester county is a bit more rural and longer commute to philly, but lower taxes and more value for your dollar in the housing market. Montgomery county not as rural but also good taxes and dollar value and a bit closer to philly. Need to pick what kind of area you'd like to live in can help more then

Do you get royalties from that Phillyblog for referrals?

Seems like your only purpose on this site is to steer people to Phillyblog which I'm sure isn't bad advice, but probably not what the developer of this site had in mind.

No royalties/referrals, but I know if I posted a question asking advice about where to live in Philly, I would be grateful to know about that site and I would think others would be as well. I have answered other questions directly on this board.

a great place to try and live is Northern Liberties, University City, Art Museum and for a little more peaceful areas--Mt Airy and Chestnut Hill( cheap rents for 1 bdroom apartments),
