Not a good place for a single female. Consider Downingtown, Malvern, West Chester or further down the Pike.

I have lived in Coatesville for nearly 10 years and am tired of people trashing it! I am especially sick of people complaining about the tax rates-go on Chester County's website and you will find Coatesville no longer has the highest taxes-Phoenixville and Southern Chester Cty do! Coatesville is comparable in tax rates to Downingtown. Downingtown, Phoenixville and West Chester still have "seedy areas" and crime and it wasn't that long ago (my high school years!) that Exton was considered a dump in Chester County! Times have changed. I live near an amazing lake, beautiful golf course/country club and have incredible country views off my front porch. We have big new park nearby and Amish farms for fresh produce and flowers! My kids are in Kings Highway and we all love it.
Don't write Coatesville off because of the stigma it no longer deserves. Downtown C-ville still has a long way to go but the surrounding areas are some of the most beautiful you will find anywhere only you will pay about $100k less!!
