Why would they want to do that when they've got New York right there?...

Yes, a New York sports fan can survive in Philly... but no one likes them.

There's quite a bit of overlap in media markets. I grew up at the Shore and you can flip back and forth between NY and Philly stations (or Phillies and Yankees games) from around Asbury Park all the way down to LBI. In Monmouth Co. it really depends on who your cable provider is. If you have Comcast you can get Philly stations pretty much anywhere but, typically, if you're south of Route 33 you should get Philly stations regardless of your provider. IIRC, the blackouts only happen on certain occasions. Like if you're in Point Pleasant and the Mets are playing the Phillies you'll only get it on one channel.

I'm not sure how far it goes on the west side of the state but I had an uncle who lived in Cranbury (Middlesex) then West Windsor (Mercer) and he got NY and Philly stations. They were always watching Iggles games over there even though he grew up a Giants fan.

My parents are in Chester Co. and my dad is always flipping back and forth between the Phils & Orioles games.

On Verizon Fios in South Jersey you can get SportsNet New York. Not sure what they show on it though (nor do I have a desire to know).

When someone is wearing a team jersey or shirt or hat and it's obvious they're in town because their team is playing the Phils I'll often talk a little trash - it's all in good fun though.

I was once riding home from work (out by the airport) and coming over the Platt Bridge and pulled alongside a car full of O's fans during inter-league play. This was rush hour traffic so we were at a crawl and I pointed to the driver, then pointed to the middle of my helmet (where the team logo would be if I was wearing a ball cap) then gave him a thumbs down. He looked confused but his passengers all started cracking up.

Right off Route 1 - just past Kennet Square.

I've seen quite a few Giants fans in Philly. No on seems to bother them. Of course it could be a different story if they're in the stadium.

Where in the area do you live? I could see parts of South Jersey having it, as mentioned but not so much Philadelphia proper and its contiguous PA suburbs.
