how similar is the baltimore accent to philly?
i wonder if there are varieties of the bmore accent. one more southern/appalachian. one more NE urban.

I always thought the Baltimore accent was more Canadian sounding...

There are variants but i'm not sure which is from where.
This guy, talking about baseball, is definitely old school. He's got that non-rhotic thing going on (you'll notice him dropping R's). Which I wasn't even aware was a trait of the B'more accent but when you listen to him say "O" you know he's Charm City all the way

This guy, talking about his drummer, is from suburban Baltimore. It sounds a lot like the blue collar accents of DelCo, Lower Bucks, Camden Co.

I say similar in the way the O's are pronouced. But Philly also has similarities with NYC accents in words like fast, past, sad, had etc.

No. That sounds nothing like a South Philly accent. This is a good a example of a South Philly accent
