Live downtown; might be moving.

In other cities I have seen these New Urbanism/Planned Communities. They have walking trails, parks, maybe a pool, and a small "Downtown" (A place to eat, maybe a dentist, a couple of shops).

Not the Biggest fan of this but....

I have not heard or seen anything like this but thought I would confirm here. Anything like this out in the 202/76 end of the Mainline area?

Eagleview sounds like its close to what you are looking for. Its off of Rt. 100 in Lionville.

Chesterbrook is older but it does have a small shopping/eating area

Apparently Main Street at Exton was originally supposed to have housing but the developer was trying to slip in a denser community and the locals fought it.

And here's another one that is planned for a former Malvern steel plant...

Really? I never knew that. These new planned developments with the "faux" town center kind of creep me out, but that's just me. They are convenient though. For what its worth, Columbia, MD creeps me out too.

They are a little creepy to me also, but for 8 years or so with kids there is something nice about new construction and convenience. Would love to do it for real but close in town living out that way is rare to find and often on the mainline and pricey

The 2 mentioned above seem off the mark. Eagle is just a web site with houses from all over and the other is more condo/townhome.

Maybe the website I posted has homes from all over, but Eagleview is indeed a Planned Community with an office park, housing development and a town center with restaurants and retail shops.

Philly doesn't have anything like the master planned communities Houston has, Phoenix has...places like that. Chesterbrook is the closest thing I can think of, it's not all condos there are a lot of large single family homes but they are definitely older. Nothing new.

This was my impression. I am getting some info on Eagle but it is not like the things you see in other areas.

I guess if you want that walkable town thing you pay go to Media, Wayne, Bryn Mawr, etc

Don't forget Phoenixville - that is probably the bargain of the suburban bunch...
