I have to Media before, and it is a really great place. If you don't have a car, or share a car with someone, it is probably the only place outside of Philadelphia where one can live comfortably. It is a real town. There is a trolley that runs up and down the main street. There is also a SEPTA regional rail station which can take you into Center City.

Default Maybe a Move to Media...

Hi Batten, I see this thread is from 2009. Interested to hear if you are still enjoying Media. We are considering a move to the Philly area from Boston, for work. We have 2 well-adjusted elementary aged children who are active, healthy and very bright. We now live in a small suburb. The schools are great but I am not thrilled with the "fish-bowl," herd-like feel of the town. We are seeking a more diverse, progressive place that is safe, walkable, has access to good schools, but also a place that has much more going on. Our next home base must offer some sense of anonymity, diversity and vibrancy. Not sure if you know the Boston area but we are looking for a spot somewhat like Brookline or (some parts of) Newton, where you could walk to a yoga class, the market or cafe, or hop a train into the city for a class or a family datenight. We could spend 400-550k but have little interest in strapping ourselves in order to land in another quiet community filled with like-minded folks only for its schools. Can you tell me if you think Media would offer what we are seeking? Can you suggest any other places that might? Thank you.

Lower Merion is probably the Philly suburb most similar to Brookline/Newton.

Media is half scum, half snobs. I would avoid it at all costs.
