This thread is 3 years old. Pretty sure the OP isn't coming back, as that was the only post s/he ever made.

Maybe you didn't read my reply. I have lived here for over 20 years and have spent ALOT of time in and around Philly. I know what goes on there and if you think for one minute that gangs are not a problem in Philly, then you must be blind. We moved away from the city for a safer neighborhood and better schools for our children. Lived there, been there and am giving the straight scoop so they are not surprised and regretful once they arrive. The people writing do not live here and are trusting people like us to give them our honest opinions. Philly is nothing to brag about. It is very busy and parking is always a problem and very high priced. I think Northeast Philly is about the safest place but even that is going downhill fast. I have nothing good to say about Philly except we are moving to Idaho in 3 weeks and I can't wait to leave this place!!!!!!
Gangs are an issue and crime is definately a concern. Think long and hard before you make that move.

Yes one more person from the Lower Northeast salty that their neighborhood went to ****... so now they think THE ENTIRE CITY IS A WARZONE. It's the END OF PHILLY. We are ALL GOING TO DIE because the gangs and young thugs murder people in cold blood on the streets of Center City. Sigh.

And no rmn728 you are very wrong... very wrong indeed. There are little to no gangs in Philly... there is still a strong presence from the K&A (Irish Mob) who won't bother you much) and the Italian Mafia (who are virtually dead in Philly), but that is about it. White/Italian/Irish gangs have always had a strong presence in Philly and have always fought off or scared away any of the black gangs and there has been a lot of racial tension in Philly in the past. Most of the motorcycle gangs have been rounded up and jailed like the Outlaws and the Pagans. The Warlocks still have a small presence but are starting to die out. The Black Mafia and Sex Money Murder (african american gangs) have a very small presence in the city but not much. Philly is definitely not a gang city like NY, Chitown and LA
