Nope, you have supermarkets, convenience stores, and bars/bottle shops for beer after hours...

One way to stick out as a (non-native)New Yorker in Philly is to say "bodega."

It's the "corner store" or the "deli"

Some supermarkets are open 24/7. Outside of Center City most corner stores close at 8 and some at 10. It really just depends on the neighborhood. Most delis are open 'til 2am. I know of a few places in Center City that are open 24/7 but they can't sell beer after 2am.

If you want late night booze you just have to find the after-hours places in your 'hood. If you want late night food, well, that's easy. Plenty of places to eat that never close.

Can you enlighten me on some of my options because from what I can tell, visiting the city at night(haha actually went at 2:30am 2 nights ago) and doing research all I really see in choices for late night eats are chinese food stores and Genos and Pats. Anything im missing.

If you were here on a Monday I wouldn't be surprised that some things were closed. A lot of places are closed during the day on Mondays. It's one of those holdovers from a more civilized era.

Anyway - Maoz (open 'til 3?), Aromatic (also 3? although maybe not open on Monday) and other places open all night Lorenzo's, Jim's, Lil' Pete's, Midtown Diner (and South St., and Melrose, and Oregon, and Penrose), The deli at 13th & Spruce. The other deli at 13th & Lombard. The pizza place at 13th & Latimer is open 'til atleast 4am (although maybe not on Monday either). Center City and Federal Pretzel are only open overnight. There are also a few Mexican places near Washington Ave. that have crazy hours but I can't tell if they open really early or they're just open really late but either way i've seen people inside eating at 4am.

These are just places that come to mind right away between Market and Federal . . . because those are those places I find myself when it's 3am and i'm drunk-hungry.
