My father and I are traveling from Buffalo to see Sabres v. Flyers. I wont say who we will be routing for ;-). Anyone know any inexpensive hotels/motels to stay for the night in the area? We are not looking for anything nice at all, just "safe" Thanks.

There is only one hotel walking distance which is a Holiday Inn on Packer Av and it's a long walk and could be expensive.
There are the usual Motel 6, Red Roof Inn, Econolodge plus many others at the airport which is pretty close but then you have to pay 10-30 dollars for parking at the game.
Best bet may be to search for a bargain at one of the many Center City hotels and take a 2.00 subway ride to the Wells Fargo Center.

agree def stay in center city. you'll be able to find some decent prices, and you'll be able to actually see some of the city instead of just the crappy airport area or the boring area around the stadiums.

plus you'll be by transit and the subway is the best way to get to the game.

Not sure what you think of as inexpensive, but the Alexander Inn is one of the better bargains in the heart of Center City, and it comes with complimentary breakfast. It's about two blocks from the subway line that will take you to the arena.

Hotel prices tend to fluctuate a lot. I have seen bargains at the Ritz Carlton and Weston and outrageous rates at a Holiday Inn. A bargain would be less than 100. Also most hotels charge for parking but you will do better on your own. The Subway you will need runs north and south on Broad St which is between 13th and 15th on the map.
