Hi all!

I am considering a job offer at Children's Hospital. I live in south Jersey and wondering the best way to commute to work.

I could drive to CHOP in about 25 minutes, but it looks like there is little parking in that area.

I could take public transit - PATCO to Philly, then it looks like subway to University City. I have no experience with Septa or the PATCO connections. And this would take a lot longer.

Any comments on safety of taking subway to University City and walking to work? Or on connections between PATCO and the subway?

Thanks in advance for advice!

Safety using mass transit probably wouldn't an issue, unless you were working at odd hours. Things might feel a little lonely if you're waiting on a platform at 10:00PM. If it was me and I was working regular daytime hours, I'd take the train. If I was working odd hours, I'd drive (for convenience more than safety) - every hospital has a parking garage so you could probably pay for a monthly or daily spot as an employee.

Septa is safe, especially in the University City area. Honestly speaking, you're more likely to get injured in a car accident than getting mugged on the subway.
