Thats not an absurd commute especially if its only a couple days per week. That being said there are better options much closer to Wilmington.

You're oversimplifying a bit. It's true that prosperous neighborhoods in North Philly are the exception and not the rule... but there are decent areas albeit towards the suburban edges: East/West Oak Lane, Fern Rock, even parts of Olney off the top of my head.

Yes, but we have gone over all sorts of assessments of Philly neighborhoods in other threads, in great detail, ad nauseum.

This is a thread about a commute, and my comment was only a light little aside. I didn't think it was the place to get into so much detail, so I "oversimplified." My point is that people in the northern suburbs certainly don't live in north Philly, and would be offended by such a reference.

Northwest Philly is also good. It consists of Mt Airy and Chestnut Hill.

TracySam, I understood the point you were making. My own point was that by painting such a broad brush over North Philly, you included some neighborhoods that don't necessarily warrant the same negative reputation. Others reading the thread may or may not have been on the forum long enough to know the difference.

That said, I regret going off-topic as much I encourage others to stay on it. I would agree that someone who finds Horsham as an ideal place to settle probably would not even like the nicer North Philly neighborhoods on the fringes of the city, even if it meant a shorter commute.
