Hi All! This website appears to have a wide variety of information and opinions. I would like some information on neighborhoods to live in in Philadelphia, which is where my boyfriend and I are considering moving this summer. Here is some information about us: My boyfriend and I are both 23, and from VA. We have both lived in the suburbs of DC (for highschool) and Richmond, VA for college. We live in a residential area on the outskirts of the city in Richmond and like the vibe. He is a music major and looking for jobs that at least have SOMETHING to do with music, and I am an accountant and feel that I can pretty much get a job anywhere. We are looking for a low crime neighborhood, and are thinking of either the outer ranges of the city or suburbs. We have a dog so would love a dog friendly neighborhood. We would also love a place where my boyfriend can play music in the house at least sometimes. Culture is also important to us.

Let me know if you all have any suggestions that match what I am talking about. I appreciate the input!

If you are open to the burbs, suggest you look in Collingswood, NJ. Lots of people in your age group, growing art/music scene, etc. It's only 10 minute from Philly and right on the Patco train line.

Default Collingswood is a good choice

I agree that Collingswood is a good choice for you - neighbors may be bothered by music playing at night - but that will happen anywhere. You can take the train into center city or to the Jersey shore from there.

Mt. Airy would be a good choice to look at in the city. There are places in the Northeast that will be fine as well but most people I find on the bulletin boards put the NE down. Never quite sure why.

Consider historical girard estates area in the south philadelphia section of the city.

Girard Academic Music Program is right down the street from my home, there are also many music schools in the area.

Also, my neighbor has a band, so you'll love him!
