Hey everyone. I've heard it said that there is a place about 30 miles away where you can rent bicycles and ride a nice trail. The trail goes through a forest and maybe there is a river or a dam . . . Anybody have some info about a place like this? How much is the rental? Thanks.

I say save the money from renting, look on a site like Craiglist or your local paper and find a used bike (which you can usually find pretty reasonably priced for something like a mountain bike) and start checking out your local places! We live in Montco, we ride the power line trail in Horsham, we ride the delaware canal off of route 32 that travels between the two counties and is a really fun ride, we ride in Valley Forge. I mean this state is very open for bike riders, so many nice places to go riding. Even if you don't have a truck to put your bike in, you can spend a little money on a roof bike rack or one that secures to the back of your car.
Good luck and have fun!

Yeah. I already have a bicycle, the problem is that I have a group of friends who are not so convinced that buying a bicycle is a good thing. I want them to experience the awesome outdoors. I have planned an outting with them next Saturday (May 2) and I was hoping I could pull off this biking adventure. Oh well, I will figure something out.

Thanks for your suggestions!

If you live in Philly you cant beat Kelly Drive(Schuylkill River) which leads you to Forbidden Drive(Wissahickon Creek) which takes you to Chestnut HIll. They rent bikes behind the Art Museum at Lloyd Hall, there is also a place that rents bikes at 32nd and Walnut on Penns Campus.

If you start at the Art Museum and do the Kelly Drive-Forbidden Drive trail route its about a 25 mile round trip.
