I'm embarrassed to admit that we have had our Spring Aire king mattress for 26yrs! Time to get a new one but mattress shopping gives me a headache. I have no idea what is comfortable. I go to the stores and lie down for like 2 mins but it doesn't really tell me anything.

I wish the mattress industry would regulate their mattress and all merchandisers had uniform style names.

Buying a mattress is the hardest shopping experience of my life and I LOVE SHOPPING!

I didn't read all of the posts but, in a pinch we actually got our mattress at Big Lots. They have mattress sales all the time. We got a queen size Sealy mattress for about $300 which included the box spring.

.. we needed a temporary bed .. until the big move.
Found a 6 inch foam mattress (queen) and folding frame that fit in the subcompact car.
Took a day or two to get used to it ..but .. a year later.
We love the way this feels and still sleep on it and are now looking to replace it with a high end model.
We will use the original for the guest room.

Our came from K-Mart ... they used to have samples ... I am sure it is similar at walmart.
