I graduated from Drexel. I used to park in the main garage, but decided that commuting from Germantown was more cost effective than paying for parking. You really can get almost anywhere by foot, even to the Art Museum. Street parking is somewhat scarce, and you might end up parking away from the campus (sometimes I would park in an empty lot at 34th and Spring Garden, and it would take about 15 minutes to get to 34th and Market). It's free, but I wouldn't advise being so far away from your car, especially in the wee hours. Some of the dorms have their own private parking lots, but you'll be paying for them and if you don't use your car that much, it's not a good investment. Cabs can get you anywhere you need to go, and you're a stone's throw away from 30th Street. And PhillyCarShare and Zipcar were both mentioned (the closest PCS ones are 33rd and Cherry in the lot behind Drexel pizza, and 36th and Lancaster).

And because you'll be attending Drexel, the other important thing around here is food, so here's a quick synapsis of places you can go for food:
California Pizza - budget pizza, and it tastes like it. Avoid if possible.
Village Pizza - OK pizza, ok cheesesteaks.
Drexel Pizza - good food, their grilled chicken sandwiches are usually pretty big. Plus they serve breakfast.
Ed's Wings - best wings on campus (similar to tallest midget in the circus, LOL), also good pizza and they have a separate middle eastern cuisine menu.
They're also building a Chick-Fil-A at Ross Commons (a cafe next to one of the dorms) and the library will have a Taco Bell Express.
Cheesesteaks? One place - Abner's at 38th and Chestnut.

Also, the Drexel shuttle can take you to Fresh Grocer (40th and Walnut) or Shop 'n' Bag (I think they're still that.....they're at 43rd and Walnut) if you need a supermarket trip.

You have to be living in the dorms to be able to park in the private dorm lots. So once you move out, keep in mind you will have to look elsewhere if you end up doing this. The garage is done by lotto EVERY term.
