Have you tried the Bensalem Country Club? I got married there 8 years ago and paid $55 a plate. I can't imagine the price has doubled in 8 years, but who knows.

Congratulations ... I hope you are forever happy ..

Economy has been hard on businesses
Many are willing to give a very fair deal

I would suggest a hotel near the church
The prospect of additional income with a small block of rooms for out of town folks is a bargaining chip.
Having your wedding on a Friday evening or Sunday midday may also help the price.
It will eliminate some travel for people and others may choose a room over driving.
Leading to a party after the party .. allowing you to minimize alcohol and it's costs and problems at the reception. It should be cheaper to have drinks by consumption rather than per person.
Make sure they know that they NOT you are responsible for over serving.
Kids and elders drink little and in most cases not at all.
You might be able to add a continental breakfast for the next morning for those in the hotel.

As to the cake ... ask for two small tiers over a few fakes .. and get the cake you like as a sheet cake. If you have the desert and coffee as a buffet .. it will create a fun atmosphere. Have the "wedding" cake bagged to go with your guests .. it is good luck.

Ask that leftover chesses and veggies with dip be re-trayed for the end .. during the dancing.
Never offer drinks without food.

Hope you can use some of these .. just have fun ...
