I'm searching for home in Mayfair. The areas I'm looking at are North of Frankford Ave.

I've looked a couple properties east of cottman between cottman and rhawn. I've also looked at some properties west of cottman abover frankford. Generally speaking I'm staying between the 2800 - 3500 blocks of Mayfair.

Any useful information would be great about the price/location/etc?

Also, how is Welsh Rd in the Mayfair section?

HockeyBum,Your hundred blocks are good,But I would stay more north of cottman ave.Like between Rowland and Rhawn.I have lived in Mayfair awhile now and bought my house about 18 months ago.
I'm near Lincoln high and pennypack park which in my opinion is the nicest part of the nieghborhood.
The only down side are kids from lincoln when school gets out,but there all gone after about an hour or so after school.
Houses have been a bit over priced here for awhile now but prices are coming down.
Check out Shelmire,Sheffield,Oakmont streets and the surrounding streets, big row, homes nice area.
My friend just bought a house that was asking 180 and got it for $125,000.Shop around.

You may want to avoid the 3500 blocks. The parking can get tight, especially around the holidays. You also have to deal with alot of trucks driving down the street and common driveways, plus the noise from the trash trucks early in the morning emptying the dumpsters from the businesses on Frankford Avenue. When we lived there the small streets rarely got plowed so maybe even consider a street that's either two-way or runs one-way towards Frankford Avenue.

No, I'm not. I lived in the 3500 block of Tudor Street, which ran one way West towards Leon Street. It was a real adventure getting the car out after a snowstorm. If you were lucky enough to get the car out of that block you still had to contend with Leon to Bleigh Avenue. There are other streets just off Frankford that run one way.

Nice, quiet streets, except when Lincoln and Austin Meehan are in session. I'd still recommend moving there. I always liked the blocks with the stone front houses.

Mayfair has not been hit with the recent decline as bad as the other neighborhoods in the lower Northeast. Pretty much of it is still a stable area. However you have to aware of your surroundings especially when schools are in session. Students from not so stable other areas are bussed in or take public transit.

How is the area up by 2800 blocks of Unruh and Glenside? I that that is a little bit further from the area by lincoln high and pennypack park but I was wondering if that area was nice.

I know its near the Blvd and Roosevelt Plaza.
