I have been looking to move to philly for a while now and I just found a great house on the 200 block of E Cambria and wondered if anybody had any input on the area? weather it is safe or not is my main concern. Thank You.

I'd have to say no, BUT I haven't been there in a decade a miracle may have happened there. Search FISHTOWN for a thread I know there are some people there a lot more knowledgable than I am

This actually isn't Fishtown. It's North Kensington and I would pretty much walk away from that deal. The area is light years away from developing. I actually live in Port Richmond which is to the south and east of there and know the area well enough to comment. The area is not safe. Drive by at night, park, and watch the goings on.

The closest park is known as needle park ... that is a polite term.
If you have any questions about safety .. this is NOT the area for you
Look for places listed as Fishtown or Port Richmond

Will you bring a vehicle or use public transportation?

That would not be a very good idea. Even though the area is very diverse- evenly divided between whites, blacks and Hispanics with some Asians- it is not safe. I do believe that gentrification is possible but I have to agree with Niceguy 19125 - it is going to take a long time for it to happen.
