Hi All,

I am in a 3-piece female-fronted cover band that plays rock and pop from the 80s to the present...songs by artists like U2, Sheryl Crow, The Pretenders, Pink, The Cure, The Police, The Sundays, Death Cab for Cutie, Radiohead and others. I would estimate that 40% of our material is from the 80s, 40% from the 90s and 20% from 2000s. The members of my band are in our late 40s - early 50s.

Can you recommend venues for us to play that would fit us? We'd like to stay within a 20 mile radius of Center City.

Thanks!

Fishtown: Johnny Brenda's, The Fire, Ortlieb's, Heritage maybe, the smaller venue that is adjacent to but part of the Fillmore, Kung Fu Necktie

Milkboy Coffee (either location)
Boot and Saddle
Connie's Ric Rac

Underground Arts I think it's called off of 12th and Callowhill

Bourbon and Branch
Century
Trafalmadore

Trocadero

Some of the places mentioned might be acoustic only.

A lot of those places generally don't have cover bands, either, but hey, whatever, if you're trying to market a band, it can't hurt to try everywhere.

Good point NewtownBucks, totally missed that!

here's something you could consider for your 3 piece band.

Also, maybe Burlap and Bean Coffeehouse are more likely to consider cover bands. There are probably closer venues, but that would give you a start.

I was active in the Philly rock scene from 1975 - 1985, (playing in bars starting at age 16) but it has been so long I wouldn't know where to start. We played covers of those bands back in the late 70's, and 80's when they were new!

Do you have a manager, and a demo tape? Errr, by tape, I mean digital media of course.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I will follow up on those places and see if they have cover bands. I was in original bands years ago, so I feel a bit out of the loop in the current scene.

Pilot1, funny you should ask about the demo "tape". We are working on a video demo as we speak!
