Hi,

I'm going to attend Drexel as an unmarried female grad student and unfortunately all the housings around the university are pretty expensive/noisy.

Is it a good idea to find housing near the Market-Frankford line(or any other frequent arrival trolley line for that matter) and commute everyday? I want to live within walking distance with the station, what stations have safe neighborhood then?

Would you please give me some idea about finding apartments with the following criteria?
1.need to be safe
2.needs to be furnished as I don't have a car
3.below 1000/month, fortunately below 700

Thanks

Hello,

I am a grad student commuting to U City everyday as well. I live in Passyunk Square (south philly). It is very easy to get to Drexel from here. I can either walk to the broad street line, take that north to city hall and switch to the market line and get off at 34th/30th. Or I can take a bus up to Market street and get on the el there. My commutes are rarely over 35 minutes (including walking time) and I love this area. I live in a 1bdrm and pay $600/month. I think this area would be a good bet for finding a place to rent in your price range.
