Hi, Can anyone recommend good areas to rent in that will have healthy active singles in 40's and 50's? What areas of Phila. are safe and active communities? How about the burbs or NJ?

Any specific apartment complexes that are spacious and offer nice amenities... I love a fireplace and outdoor area to grill.

Any groups to join?

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Parts. of Mt. Airy, Wissahickon

Moorestown, Voorhees

Look on meetup.com for groups. I don't know of any offhand for your interests.

There is/was an apartment complex that used to advertise itself as the "Melrose Place" of Philly, back in the day. They had a roommate service and even their own social director. Unfortunately I can't remember the name ... and I don't know if it marketed itself to singles of all ages. Maybe someone else here knows...

EDIT: I think this is the place: http://www.summitparkcommunities.com/ .

Tone - it was Summit Park - that was back in the 70's and 80's though. I don't know if it's still the same.

Just watch the true burbs area. It turns into family-central pretty quickly in NJ and PA. Then you can look forward to dodging strollers at starbucks as your social highlight. I made that mistake once.

I know a lot of adult singles around nolibs, Fitler and Art museum areas. Good luck with grilling though.
