Anyone Who Can Give Me Some Information On This Area Please Do. I Heard There Are Meth Labs That Are Abundant, Crime In The Schools, Nothing To Do, Very Rural... I'm Not Sure We Should Go Visit This Place With Our Realtor Much Less Buy A Home There.

Oxford is getting pretty far out there rcovph. Its still noted for being a farming community although development has been fairly steady over the past 15 years. Your money will go alot further out there and it seems like a pleasant enough place to me, but I would think the schools and amenities will be inferior compared to say Chadds Ford/West Chester area?.

Go check it out and see if its your cup of tea. Its a very pleasant area, a bit too far out for my tastes though. Also you will run into your fair share of migrant farm workers in those parts.

Have you looked into Garnet Valley area ? Very Nice housing developments and still somewhat affordable. A hop, skip and jump away from downtown West Chester, tax free shopping of Del., Media and KOP.

I don't know anything about New Oxford other than that it is between Gettysburg and York.
I live in Oxford - Southern Chester County. Rainrock is correct in that Oxford is pretty rural. It all depends on what you are looking for. I grew up in Philly - never imagined living out here but now that I'm here I love it. Oxford is really growing a lot. There are a lot of new developments. You can still get a lot for your money here. We have every day conveniences like supermarkets and CVS within a 5 minute drive. Also chains like McDonalds and Pizza Hut. Walmart is supposed to be coming in along with an adjoining shopping center. The number of stores has been scaled down though because they found some turtles living on the land there that are apparently an endagered species. IN any event - in the next year Walmart will be here.
In the interim there are 2 other Walmarts both within a 15 minute drie. Also - in 25 minutes you can be in NOrth Wilmington at Concord Mall. Any store/restaurant you can imagine is there.
Feel free to PM me if there are any questions I can answer for you.

Oxford is a lovely place, quiet and friendly. Lots of lovely people and farm lands. Come on out and visit.
