Was just wondering if renters have to pay broker's fees on a rental in the Yardley, Newtown, Langhorne area? Thinking if we don't have time to buy, maybe we'll rent.

In NJ/NY broker's fees often are equivalent to 1 months rent.

You should not have to pay, the landlord should be responsible.

That's what I always thought, but on all the listings in NY & NJ it states tenant pays broker's fee. I always thought that was bassackwards.

Using a real estate agent to find an apartment is something unique to the NYC area. It's unnecessary here but, if you do use one the money should NOT be coming out of your pocket.

The owner of the property pays a broker fee of usually 1 month's rent in the state of PA. You might get charged an application fee of around $25-50. This would cover a credit and background check. You get one free one per year per credit bureau. See if they will accept this to save you money.
