I am moving to Philadelphia soon and really need some ideas on apartments in and around the area. Any suggestions would be great. Suggestions of apartment complexes or good surrounding towns would be great.

would like to be within 30-40 minute train to work; like to be close to basic services
Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood?

Jenkintown, Ambler, Collinswood, Narberth, Wayne, Ardmore in the burbs. East Falls or Chestnut Hill in the city.

I'd add Mt. Airy in the city as well. I'd consider the Spring garden/Fairmount neighborhoods as well. you'd be maybe a 20 min walk from center city.

Maybe even Fitler Square as well in towards SW Center City. Heck, even Rittenhouse Square is pretty chilled out below Locust St.

I would say a neighborhood that is walking distance from the city but not loud and crowded like Fairmount, Spring garden. If you want to stay in philadelphia but be somewhere that is very quiet and chill I would say chestnut hill and mt. airy. you can take the R7 and the R8 from Chestnut Hill to the city.
