Hoping to get some feedback on neighborhoods. We are moving from Long Island either this summer or next. We are a young family with 4 children. School district is a top priority as is a safe, family friendly neighborhood. I would love to find something with small-town feel but close enough to a big city (within an hour). Would like some Jewish population, but we are not very religious so doesn't need to be all Jewish.

We plan to rent at first (prefer $2000 & under) but eventually will buy (anywhere from 250 - 450). Will need a dog-friendly town as well.
My husband will be working from home, so jobs not really a factor.
We are moving to find a more affordable place, with a little bit of a more simpler life.
I have started researching the Lower Merion area, as well as Abington. Am also interested in Doylestown, but think it may be a little out of my price range.

Any feedback on any of these areas or other areas would be appreciated.

Just wanted to mention, as I have been doing some research - it looks like Lower Merion may be out of my price range also. How about Council Rock School District - Newtown?

Abington has some areas in your price range primarily west of Old York Road/Rt.611. However, the Jewish population is mostly east of 611. Glenside might be a good compromise. So may areas east of 611 but above Susquehanna Road.

Also consider both the towns of Upper Dublin and Lafayette Hill although home prices in each may approach Lower Merion levels.

You pretty much already hit the places that meet your requirements. You might add Newtown or Holland to the list.

PS. I think you can find something in your price range near Lower Merion.
