Where to live near Eastern University? (Chester, Radnor Township: crime, best school districts, restaurants)

I'm taking a job at Eastern University, and I'm wondering where I should live. I have a young family and we're looking for a safe place to live that is close to the university.

Thanks. I'd like to spend $300,000 or so on a 3-bedroom house. It would be nice to be near some restaurants, shopping, etc., but that's not super important. I'm more interested in a nice, safe place, that won't leave me with a brutal commute.
