In addition to the Montgomery County and Bucks County towns just to the west and north of Northeast Philly I would also look across the river in Burlington Co., NJ.

It's a fairly easy commute and you'll have a wide variety of towns to choose from.

The NE Philadelphia Airport is for private/corporate planes.

Philadelphia International Airport is where the commercial flights come in.

I also noticed that Langhorne, PA has some nice affordable homes. Is this a nice, safe area to live in for a young family?

If you are still looking - Newtown PA (Bucks County) would be within a 30 minute commute and is a very charming town - not as developed as Bethesda (I have actually lived in both). The other piece is the CR school has many excellent amentities, special needs programs, and ranks nationally every year

Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Council Rock School District

This area also affords close proximity to most if not all of your shopping needs

Good luck and hope you enjoy the Greater Philly Area
