A lot of positive growth has radiated out of Center City as far north as Fishtown and Brewerytown, west into University City and south to East Passyunk near Snyder Ave.
Personally, I think "Brewerytown" is hype. Yes, it's better than it was, but it's still way, way too close to Strawberry Mansion (utter warzone)

I haven't been out that way in a while so I have to respect your opinion on that. It did seem at the time that Poplar St. was the crossroads between some nice and not-so-nice blocks.

My neighbor has relatives living in Brewerytown. They had been renting right along Poplar. Poplar has long been the de facto dividing line between Fairmount and Brewerytown.

It's really not so bad up there. Of course, they're just north of Girard so it really isn't much different from where they were living before.

I agree that Strawberry Mansion is pretty rough but railroads have always served as good barriers to that sort of thing.

Default Racism aint true

Port RIchmond and Bridesburg might have their share of racists, perhaps, but no more than any other Philadelphia neighborhood. My mom and me immigrated from Poland in 1994, and although we didn't live in Port Richmond, many of our friends naturally did and it was a gathering place for all of us Poles. My mom's best friend, who came over in 1992 a few towns over in Poland, married a black guy and they lived happily together in Port Richmond. The kids, the complexion of Barack Obama, spoke better Polish than me. That's pretty tolerant if you ask me.

Looking for a 2-3 bedroom place. I want to be in a majority white area where parking wont be TOO much of a hassle. Preferably would have a few bars within walking distance (neighborhood bars or sports bars).

So what kind of price range am I looking at? Where to look? Willing to do work on the home myself.
Buy in Bridesburg if you want to be safe. PM me if you want to know more.
