For the first time in Phillies history, a fan running on the field at Citizens Bank Park was subdued by a Philadelphia police officer using his Taser gun.
With 44,817 fans watching in the stands Monday night, the teenage male, wearing a black baseball cap, red T-shirt, and khaki shorts, ran on to the field during the eighth inning against the St. Louis Cardinals.
"This is the first time that a Taser gun has been used by Philadelphia police to apprehend a field jumper," Phillies spokeswoman Bonnie Clark said in a statement. "The Police Department is investigating this matter and the Phillies are discussing with them whether in future situations this is an appropriate use of force under these circumstances. That decision will be made public." The fan tased was 17 years old.

Cool, did they give him a standing ovation. I remember the standing ovation when the Easter Bunny was dragged across the Stadium Floor by the Hot Air Balloon he arrived in. It's Philly, get over it

I say good - run on the field in an act of self promotion, evading police and security and failing to obey the commands of the police, he should have been tasered.
He's lucky the cops weren't really pissed or he would come out with some nightstick marks after they got him out of public view.

After the terrorist attempt in NYC, cops are on edge about anyone acting strange.

He knew better...hope the judge fines him through the teeth

I completely agree, and I don't condone his actions. Maybe he was trying to impress a girl or, depending on the girl, end a relationship. However, I question the use of the Taser. The Police/Security officers and the young man appeared to have run out of gas and the incident was winding down when it happened.

I wonder what the Police are doing now to people who sneak down to the better seats late in the game, like I used to do at the Vet.

The cop didn't have to use a taser on him. He could have just grabbed the teenager and had him escorted out of the stadium. The cop took the easy way out.
