Would you rather live in Old City (let's say 1 block North or Market on 2nd or 3rd St) or in Queen Village/Bella Vista? For young 30 somethings, I'm leaning towards Queen Village and Bella Vista because of the
-Nice restaurants
-More of a community feel
-Seems like less crime (but who knows)
-Walking distance to grocery stores

No brainer...Queen Village. While I like Old City, especially the bars and shops, Queen Village and Bella Vista have better/more neighborhood feeling restaurants, def more community feel and good walking distance to stores, grocery etc...I would imagine crime in both to be relatively low.
Good luck and welcome to the neighborhood!

Old City North of market is nice - But I really like the QV area - a little quieter and still very close - this biggest disadvantage to QV is subway access. Also BV offers a little closer proximity to Wash Sq West and the Riteenhouse area. I lived in QV and loved it - quiet but never far from something to do
