Hello - I am traveling from Lancaster, PA to St. Davids, PA. I see that there are three locations where I can switch trains, Downingtown, Exton, & Paoli. Is switching at one faster than the other? Or would it depend on the schedules?

Also, I see that I will be traveling from Zone 4 to Zone 3 via SEPTA. Does that increase my cost? It seems that since I will be taking the same train then tokens would be my cheapest option.

Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!!

Tokens are not accepted in regional rail - those are for buses, trolleys, and subways only. You'll buy a ticket, most likely from the conductor on board, although some stations have ticket offices (with limited hours) that can save you a nominal aount of money.

I'd switch at Paoli, without having any further information, - more trains run from Paoli towards Philadelphia than from further out.

If coming in during the week make sure you look at the train schedule - there are lots of express trains that run on the Paoli-Thorndale line - not every train that stops at Paoli (or the other stops) will stop at St Davids. Schedules are all easily accessible online.
