I'm looking forward to reading Time magazine's cover story, The Childfree Life: When Having it All Means Not Having Children (The Childfree Life - TIME). It was just discussed on CBS's The Early Show. Fascinating stuff, can't wait to read it... at the library of course; I don't believe in buying magazines that I can read for free at the library, on my way to the grocery store. (I'm a frugal free spirit .)
The article makes a valid point about people having the ability to make a decision to have, or to not have children based upon each person's preferences instead of having children 'just because it seems like the the popular thing to do'. And that more and more people are saying it's OK to not have children.
Too many people make choices based on what they believe society wants them to do vs. what 'they' want to do.
I think I read somewhere that there are more unplanned pregnancies than planned. Some people who actually want children should not have them, and most these unplanned ones should not be allowed to continue. Life is struggle enough without this additional responsibility.
I have to admit that I just don't get it, with kids. I love small animals, but children, not so much. I don't see the point. Some people want unconditional love, but that to me means they have ego problems and need something to look up to them.
Location: Central Bay Area, CA as of Jan 2010...but still a proud Texan from Houston!

These folks should get a dog or two.
