I find that often times the children get that ONE feature of their parents that stands out (often times negatively), like big ears, big nose, too far or too close eyes, ...

I find I have all the bad from my mom and all the bad from my dad.

We are all tall, the whole family on all sides, we also marry tall people. My sister, however, got a relatively short daughter, and we all wonder how that happened.

This is a bit of an awkward thread, but it does remind me of something from almost 30 years ago:

I was a rotating Shift Worker at the time and decided to go fishing on my off day in the middle of the week. I got to the pier around 8am. Unsurprisingly, there were only two other persons fishing: an older gentleman and what I assumed to be his grandson. We got talking and hit it off really well. Turns out the kid was actually his son. Good looking friendly kid that he was. I commended the older gentleman on his handsome friendly son, and jokingly quipped how the kid surely took after his mom's looks. The old guy says, "Hey! In arithmetic, two minuses make a plus! Don't foget dat!"

Here is another example - my dad was always a VERY handsome man ( even in his late 80s women commented on it). My mother was “ average looking” BUT, she was the prettiest of her 9 siblings, some of whom were just plainly UNATTRACTIVE. My siblings all took after my dad. I, the youngest got my share of my mother’s side of the family with just “enough” of my dad’s looks to keep me from being butt ugly. Moral is, if you want attractive kids, look at your potential mate’s entire family - there lies the key.

Do you mean pretty in appearance or ugly in their character.
Because it's not necessary to be lovely to be lovable.
God don't make junk, many a handsome person makes themself sound butt ignorant without showing their face, and at that point no-one cares what they even look like.

Err...i forgot the question, probably not important anyway.

That's probably true. I posted way back in 2010 on this thread about how people see my daughter and without thinking, they gasp a little and say, "That's YOUR daughter?" She is unusually pretty, and if I work at my hair and makeup, I can boost myself up to average in looks.

My exh is better-looking, though, and our daughter looks a lot like his sister, who is beautiful.
