$1,000/mo just on eating out?
I spent $1250 a month eating out for a few months several years ago in Omaha. It was on the company dime (per diem), not my own. But I can attest that you end up trying every restaurant... twice--at least in Omaha, that is.

Let's try to bottom line this thing - TTL will be "up and running" in a few months. Some valuable lessons regarding maintainence has been learned I think

TTL is cool - its done lots to bring Tempe on - between the boating, the new living and work enviornments, the concerts and other events.

Tempe was SMART by adopting the plan for the lake. The other cities had the chance and blew it.

I agree greatday.....it's a clever, forward-looking, very attractive, public spot.....great use for an otherwise ugly dry wash....right downtown.....very visible and accessible.....family-friendly.....free (to the public, that is!).....

the right people will learn a lesson or three from the break....

By putting another rubber tube dam out there? Like the one that failed?

I don't live in Arizona (might someday though)...am I missing something obvious about this story? They would actually put another of what failed up in it's place???

Mod Cut: Off topic..this is about the lake not immigration.

First off - the rubber dams were to have a 20 year life expectancy - and they could be deflated if necessary. Bridgestone evidently did not factor in the heat / sun (intensity) as good as they should have. Bridgestone is footing the bill here. A replacement rubber dam will be in place in a month. Alternative dams would take years.

Mod Cut: responding to deleted part of quote.

20 years? Is that a joke? Are people THAT short-sighted???

Roosevelt Lake Dam - completed 99 years ago

Apache Lake Dam - completed 83 years ago

Canyon Lake Dam - completed 85 years ago

Saguaro Lake Dam - completed 80 years ago

A dam in today's technology only designed to last 20 years when dams built with old ancient technology last 100 years?

I'm not a conspiracy theory buff, but I have to sympathize with the people who say they smell a rat on this whole TTL Dam situation. And the rat doesn't smell "kosher" at all.

those dams mentioned above are made of block and concrete....the Tempe Lake dam is rubber - on purpose.....allows quick dismantling if necessary and is much cheaper and "flexible", so to speak!

How are the king's new invisible clothes working out? "To allow quick dismantling if needed"??

Do they want a lake there or not? If so, bite the bullet and build a real dam. Or don't have a lake.

This rubber dam concept is B S. People have been sold a "bill of goods" as they say in the south.

Tempe prides itself in being "enviornmentally aware" - "Green"

Those rubber dams are made from recycled tires.
