I am moving to Buckeye, AZ sight unseen from No. California for health reasons. Does anyone have any knowledge of Buckeye and the surrounding area that will help me be better informed. Is it all flatlands or can you see the mountains from that area.

I can't imagine Phoenix being a healthier place to live than northern CA. From what I hear of valley fever, west nile disease, toxic levels of pollution, high incidence of skin cancer, and several poisonous creatures, it's downright UNhealthy.

We are building a home in Buckeye too. It is near the White Tank mountains. There are lots of farms and open desert areas. It is a rural area that is growing quickly. Which area are you buying in? There is LOTS of growth going on out there. There are permits for 100,000+ homes. Prices are at the bottom end of the range. I found some that start at $189,000 which is a bargain in the Phoenix area.

Default Your leap of faith. :)

I'm sure moving sight unseen is slightly difficult. I couldn't even imagine! I do hope you like Buckeye though. My husband and I live here and really enjoy it. If you are coming from NCa. you might be disappointed in the shopping/dining options. There are only a few choices right now but there are plans for several "power" centers to be built in the very near future. As for scenic beauty - Buckeye has it. There are two mountain ranges, the White Tanks and the Estrellas, there is a balance of desert land and farm land and a future planned Town Lake in the southern part of town. The sunsets are amazing!! Good luck!
PS - The heat gets better after about 2 years!

Yes, you can see mountains anywhere in the valley, they surround us. What kind of health problems do you have? I'm curious as many people move here for allergy and asthma (breathing) related problems thinking that it will help, when it won't. It used to in the past (at least 20 yrs ago), but definitely not anymore.

We came here from N. CA 2 years ago. I had developed a sensitivity to mold and my husband became allergic to Oaks after 17 years of no problems at all. So I can understand your move here.
