I have recently become close to a family whose teen has Asperger Syndrome. The teen is having much trouble fitting in at school and even to a point of his fear of the students there. I want to help this family and even may become a part of it as the single father and I are seeing each other. I would like to learn more about this disorder and learn ways to teach this young man to live in the society. Are there any workshops or training classes in my area for my need to learn?

Try contacting the SALT program down at the University of Arizona and see if they have any resources in Phoenix. SALT is the program that helps learning disabled students get through college, they see a lot of Aspergers cases.
